RE: Statutory Holiday Pay Eligibility
It appears that there has been some confusion of late over how employees qualify for payment of Statutory Holidays. Please allow me to clarify this now as follows:
Employees are eligible for payment of a Statutory Holiday only if they have worked both the business day directly prior to Statutory Holiday and the business day directly after. The only exception to this, applies when an employee was not able to work those days because they were away on a scheduled vacation (which was previously approved by management). That employee will then be eligible for payment for that Statutory Holiday, either as a paid vacation day or in monetary value on their paycheck, depending on their vacation circumstances at the time. Please be aware that this is a legislated labor law that our organization strictly follows. I trust that this now clarifies this issue for all employees.
