I am writing to you today to ask you for an extension on my __(loan/mortgage)__ payment. Of late, I have experienced a temporary setback in my finances but will be back on track shortly.
It’s one of those classic, “when it rains, it pours” scenarios for me. All in a matter of __(length of time)__, I have experienced __(briefly explain dilemma – i.e. serious illness which resulted in temporary unemployment and then I had to face a divorce to top it all off)__. I do see the light at the end of the tunnel, however, as I am now __(gainfully employed again/fully recovered from my illness and able to work again/etc.)__. It has been embarrassing for me to find myself in this bit of a financial dilemma, but rest assured, it is very temporary.
Kindly review my previous payment history with __(Name of Organization)__ to verify that I am diligent when it comes to making my payments on time. I consider myself to be a very responsible individual in that area and anticipate being able to resume full __(loan/mortgage)__ payments again by __(date)__. Anything that you can do at your end to accommodate this would be greatly appreciated.
