In response to your inquiry of why I wish to serve as __(type of volunteer)__ and how this relates to my past experiences and goals, please allow me to first state that I have had the desire to apply for a __(type of position)__ with __(Name of Organization)__ for a very long time now. The timing, however, has just not been quite right until now. But my enthusiasm for __(briefly describe what you would be accomplishing by volunteering for this organization – example: serving my country)__ has always remained very high.

People often refer to me as __(a “true humanitarian”/a “real defender of freedom”/etc.)__. There is no doubt that I have a genuine passion for __(briefly describe what your passion is)__, which is likely why I’ve always found myself involved in __(type of work that is related to your passion)__ with my career. But besides my enthusiasm for __(humanitarian work/freedom/etc.)__ , some of the other things that I can offer to __(Name of Organization)__ which I believe would beneficial, include: __(here highlight your key attributes - example: the fact that I am bilingual in __name of languages__ and I have my First Aid certification/etc.)__. I also take direction well and catch on quickly to new tasks. I work well in a team environment and am able to maintain a level head in emergency situations, which I see being quite beneficial when out in the field.

Ultimately, I would like to see __(briefly describe what you would like to see happen in this area; your ultimate goal)__. If I can in any way help to make that happen, I want to be there. I believe that one must get involved to make a difference and, in that regard, I believe that I would serve __(Name of Organization)__ well.
